About Harbor Ridge Winery

Harbor Ridge Winery has been pouring from its log-cabin tasting room on Highway 42, just south of Egg Harbor, since 2010, when it released its first two wines, Knockin' Heads Red and Mademoiselle. A small vineyard of about 350 Marquette vines grows beside the building and yields close to 3,000 pounds of grapes a year, which go into Harbor, a fortified port-style wine, and into Crimes Against Vines and Cracklin Rosé, a sparkling rosé.

The winery added its own production building in 2012 and doubled it in 2017. It now keeps about 70 barrels, some of them Italian Garbellotto oak where wines rest for more than two years. The list runs past 20 wines, from dry oak-aged reds to semi-sweet whites, rosé, fruit wines such as Cherry Crush and hard ciders.

Flights are four 2-ounce pours of your choice: $10 from the popular list or $15 from the premium wines. In summer, wine slushies are $12. Glasses and bottles can be taken out to the patio or enjoyed in the tasting room. The winery is open every day of the year except a few major holidays, with longer hours from late May through October.

Island Lavender is about 10 miles northeast toward Ephraim, around 20 minutes up Highway 42. In July, stop at the lavender fields and shop, then work your way back down the bay side for a flight on the patio.
