About Anchored Roots Vineyard & Winery
Anchored Roots Vineyard & Winery is the project of Eric and Amy Gale, Wisconsin natives who came home in 2020 after a combined 12 years working in Washington State's wine industry. Their 38-acre property sits on Willow Road about half a mile off Highway 42 near Egg Harbor and holds the vineyard, the production cellar and the tasting room. They planted three acres in 2020 and kept adding: Marquette, Frontenac, Itasca, St. Croix, St. Pepin, Petite Pearl, La Crescent, Louise Swenson, Adalmiina, L'Acadie Blanc and the Frontenac Gris and Blanc. The first estate harvest came in fall 2023. Alongside the Door County wines, they also pour reds and whites made from Washington-grown grapes.
The tasting room is open year-round. A tasting menu of five pours is $15, and the fee is waived for each bottle you buy; flights of three 3-ounce pours come on a board, and glasses and bottles can be taken to the lounge or patio. Tastings at the bar are first come, first served.
On select Saturdays at 1 p.m., winemaker Eric Gale leads an hour-long tour of the cellar and production space with a vineyard overview, a tasting and a souvenir glass for $28; 2026–27 dates are October 24, November 28, December 12, January 16 and February 27. Guests under 21 can join a tour-only option. The winery sells cheese, charcuterie and sweets, but outside food is not allowed. Leashed dogs are welcome on the patio. Holiday events in 2026 include a Sip & Shop on November 21 and live music on November 28 and December 12.
Island Lavender is about 10 miles northeast toward Ephraim, around 20 minutes by car, which makes an easy July pairing with an afternoon tasting here.
