About Door County Brewing Co.
Door County Brewing Co. has been making beer in Baileys Harbor since 2012, and its taproom and music hall on Highway 57 is where the family-owned brewery pours its own lineup on the quieter, Lake Michigan side of the peninsula. Alongside the house beers, the taproom sells cans and bottles from Hacienda Beer Co., the brewery's experimental sister label, to take home.
Music is a big part of a visit. The music hall has its own stage, and the brewery books live music every weekend through the year, usually Saturday afternoons from 3 to 6, with extra shows on some Fridays and Sundays. In spring the Brew Hounds host open jams where local musicians sign up on the spot.
Outside, a backyard beer garden has a propane fire pit, and two wood-burning fire pits sit out front. Food comes from DCBC Eats, a small kitchen in the former Bearded Heart building next door that serves daily in summer and moves inside the taproom for winter. The brewery calls its space kid-friendly and keeps board games in the taproom. Leashed, well-behaved dogs are welcome in the beer garden but not indoors. You can bring a clean 64-ounce growler (any material but clear glass) for a refill or buy one there.
Island Lavender, the Wilder Farms lavender operation, is about 5 miles north toward Ephraim, roughly a 10- to 15-minute drive. It hand-harvests its fields, distills its own oil and holds a one-day lavender festival in July, so a summer day can pair the lavender fields with a late-afternoon set in the beer garden.
