About Villa Bellezza Winery
Villa Bellezza Winery in Pepin is laid out like a small Italian village: a tasting room, a restaurant and a piazza arranged around a central fountain, with covered porticos on three sides that shade guests in summer and are heated in winter. Owners Derick and Julianne Dahlen drew the design from their travels in Italy and their friends in Zagarolo, near Rome. The wines come from grapes grown by the winery and its grower friends, chosen to handle Wisconsin's cold.
In the tasting room you get a free taste of a featured wine; a tasting of three wines is $7.50, and it is free for two with the purchase of four bottles. Through the glass walls of the Sala del Vino you can look into the vat room and its big wooden vats. Winery tours have run on Saturdays and Sundays at 11 a.m., starting in the piazza and walking past the vineyard to the crush pad before finishing with five wines for guests 21 and over; check their website for the current tour schedule.
Il Forno, the restaurant, bakes pizza and pasta al forno in a large brick oven, served inside, out in the piazza or to go, and there is an Italian brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 to 2. Chef Antonio teaches Italian cooking classes. In fall, the winery takes part in the Great River Road Wine Trail's Toast to Harvest (October 23–25, 2026), and its Pepin Nouveau is released on the third Thursday of November. A Christmas Market follows, and 22 free electric-vehicle chargers sit in the lot.
Lavender Bluff Farm is about 6 miles north in Stockholm, roughly 10 minutes up the Great River Road, so lunch at Il Forno fits easily around a summer lavender visit.
