About Wandin Valley Farms
Wandin Valley Farms traces its cherry growing back to 1893, more than 120 years of one family's work, and today grows cherries in both Victoria and Tasmania, including its own Skylar Rae cherry and the Sweet Pixie cherry plum. This isn't a pick-your-own orchard; the reason to stop is the farm gate shop, where the fruit is sold fresh-packed straight from the harvest.
The shop reopens for the 2026–27 season on 7 November 2026 and is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through the season, with shorter hours (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve and closures on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Cherries run from about late October or November to mid-to-late January in this Southern Hemisphere summer. The farm names Skylar Rae, Merchant, Kordia, Lapin, Simone, Regina and Van among its varieties; which ones are on the counter depends on the week's harvest.
Beyond fresh fruit, the shelves carry cherry and sour cherry jams (most around A$12), cherry plum relish, cherry plum and ginger jam, cherry blossom honey, drunken cherries and cherry paste. For gifts, 2 kg and 5 kg cherry boxes are delivered across Greater Melbourne from 16 November to 22 December 2026, with online orders opening 21 October.
Warratina Lavender Farm is also in Wandin North, under a kilometer away. Its lavender peaks from mid-November through December, so a December visit can take in fresh cherries and full lavender rows a few minutes apart.
