About The Bedford Inn

The Bedford Inn is a restored Victorian house built in 1883 on Stockton Avenue, about half a block from the beach in the heart of Cape May. It has 10 guest rooms furnished with period antiques, each with a recently renovated private bath. Two large verandahs give guests a place to sit outside, and the garden is certified as a wildlife habitat.

Breakfast is a full buffet built around local produce and fruit and herbs grown in the inn's own garden. The inn stays open year-round and caters mainly to couples, welcoming guests 8 and older. From the front door you can walk to the beach, the shops and restaurants of town, and the Cape May Lighthouse at Cape May Point State Park is a short trip away.

Parking is free on Stockton Avenue, which has no meters, and the brick driveway holds four or five compact cars on a first-come basis. Weekend stays need a three-night minimum from mid-June to mid-October and two nights the rest of the year. Pets are not allowed, including emotional support animals. Since January 1, 2025, card payments carry a 3.5 percent fee, which is waived for cash or check.

Lavender Fields at Warrington Manor in Milton, Delaware, is the closest lavender farm, across Delaware Bay; take the ferry from North Cape May to Lewes, then drive about 20 minutes, roughly two to two and a half hours door to door.
