About Notting Hill Coffee Roastery

Notting Hill Coffee Roastery is a small café and roaster on Second Street, the main shopping street in downtown Lewes. Owner Amy roasts the coffee herself, from organic beans that arrive in burlap sacks, and the shop keeps more than 80 flavored blends on hand along with Swiss Water decaf and single-origin coffees sorted by country.

The kitchen cooks in house too. Mornings bring egg sandwiches on croissant or toast, a rotating quiche of the day made with Lewes dairy (broccoli cheddar, roasted red pepper and onion, asparagus and havarti), and gluten-free baked oatmeal. Lunch runs to wraps such as the Lewes Veggie, Raspberry Turkey Brie and Waldorf, plus simple sandwiches including Amy's chicken salad. The pastry case holds sticky buns and the shop's Ooey Gooeys.

The café lists hours of 7 am to 4 pm, so it suits breakfast or an early lunch before a walk around Lewes. Bags of whole-bean or ground coffee make an easy gift, and the shop also sells coffee and gift cards through its website if you want to reorder at home.

Lavender Fields at Warrington Manor in Milton is about 20 minutes west. Pick up coffee and a quiche in Lewes, then head inland to walk the lavender gardens and labyrinth.
