About Blooming Hill Lavender Farm & Gift Shop
Blooming Hill is Cyndie and Peter Rinek's four-acre lavender farmlet in the Blue Ridge foothills of western Loudoun County, with a Purcellville mailing address and a setting near Philomont. The family has lived on the property since 1994, and Peter, a landscape architect and artist, built the colonial house, greenhouse and shop himself. The shop opened in April 2010.
The draw here is variety rather than size. About 1,000 lavender plants of almost 100 kinds grow in display gardens and a small field, with buds ranging from dark and pale purples to pinks and whites, so it is a good place to see how different lavenders compare side by side. Guided tours of the gardens and field are offered to groups and individuals, along with lavender-themed garden talks.
The farm is open Fridays and Saturdays from mid-April through early November, from 10 AM into the late afternoon. Occasional cream teas and full teas with scones are served in the gardens by reservation, and dates are posted on the farm's 2026 events calendar. The gift shop carries home-grown lavender products, handmade natural wreaths, lavender tea blends and culinary items, garden statuary made in the USA, and Peter Rinek's artwork and giclee prints. Pets and picnics are not permitted.
Great Country Farms in Bluemont is about 15 minutes west for seasonal picking and farm activities.
