About Breaux Vineyards
Breaux Vineyards covers a 404-acre estate whose vines climb the slopes of Short Hill Mountain in northern Loudoun County, and about 104 acres of it are planted in 17 grape varieties. The first grapes on the property went in back in 1985, and the Breaux family opened the winery to the public in April 1997. The lineup runs from Nebbiolo, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and a Meritage to Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc, Madeleine's Chardonnay, a rosé and two sparkling wines.
The tasting room is open every day from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and closes only on New Year's Day, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Regular tastings are first come, first served, and parties of 10 or fewer can walk in and sit on the grassy front terrace with views of the Blue Ridge. The covered patio, umbrella tables and fire pits need a reservation for any size group. October brings guided Vines and Views hikes through the vineyard and a free-admission Harvest Festival.
The kitchen is open daily, and packaged cheese, charcuterie and snacks are sold in the tasting room. You may bring a picnic to eat outdoors, but no outside alcohol. Children are welcome if they stay within sight of their parents, though not on the covered patio, and wine is poured only for guests 21 and older. Friendly, leashed, vaccinated dogs can join you outside and in the old tasting room.
Blooming Hill Lavender Farm, a small farm with display gardens and a gift shop south of Purcellville, is about 20 minutes away. Walk the lavender in the morning, then come here for lunch on the terrace; Harpers Ferry is also a short drive north.
