About Veramar Vineyard

Veramar Vineyard is a family-run winery off Quarry Road outside Berryville, in Clarke County at the northern end of the Shenandoah Valley, with mountain views from the grounds. Its list covers red, white and reserve wines, Merlot among them, and the motto on the door is that guests become family.

The tasting room is open Monday through Friday noon to 6, Saturday noon to 7 and Sunday noon to 5. Two 30-minute formats are offered: a Classic Tasting from the featured wine list and a newer Reserve Tasting of premium and limited-production bottles. Reservations are optional but hold you a spot. Groups of 9 to 16 can book a group tasting, and larger groups call ahead. Last call for bar tastings, open bottles and food is 30 minutes before closing.

Small plates are served, but outside food is not permitted, and only Veramar wines may be poured on the property. Well-behaved, leashed dogs can join you on the patio and in the outdoor spaces. The winery also hosts events, private parties, small weddings and corporate gatherings, and its Estate Club sends two bottles every other month for $41 plus tax and shipping.

Blooming Hill Lavender Farm near Purcellville is about 25 minutes east over the Blue Ridge, so you can see lavender in the morning and taste here in the afternoon.
