About Barrel Oak Winery & Brewery
Barrel Oak sits on 78 acres in the Middleburg wine region of Fauquier County, with a 30-acre vineyard and views toward the Blue Ridge. Second-generation winemaker Jeremy Ligon makes the wines, and the farm brews small-batch beer as well. Recent releases include Sauvignon Blanc, Vidal Blanc, Pinot Gris, a sparkling wine called Krush, a rosé, barrel and stainless Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and a Meritage.
Hours are Monday through Thursday noon to 6 and Friday through Sunday 11 to 7. Guided tastings of five wines ($27 per guest in 2026, about 45 minutes, up to 6 guests) start daily at 11, 1 and 3. The Art of Pairing matches five wines with five seasonal bites for $65 on Fridays through Sundays at 1 and 3, and from December through August a cellar tour with a guided tasting costs $40. Tastings are prepaid; arrive 10 minutes early, since seats are held only 15 minutes.
Well-behaved dogs on a leash are welcome indoors and out, everywhere except the upstairs Loft. Families can come too, but children must stay with an adult and can't sit at the tasting bars, in the Loft or by the fireplace, which are 21 and older. The kitchen offers pizzas, charcuterie, cheeses and sweets, food trucks visit on event days, and the calendar adds live music. You may bring your own food to the outdoor picnic tables, but no outside alcohol or coolers.
Lavender Bliss Cottage, also in Delaplane, is about 10 minutes away and opens its fields during the late-spring bloom, so the two make an easy June afternoon.
