About Corner George Inn Bed & Breakfast

The Corner George Inn occupies a hotel and saloon built in 1884 in Maeystown, a small German village in Monroe County that you reach over a one-lane arched stone bridge. Owners David and Marcia have restored it as a bed and breakfast. Maeystown is about 3 miles from the Mississippi River, 14 minutes from Waterloo and roughly 40 minutes south of St. Louis.

Rooms are spread across the old buildings. Dave & Mayme's Suite fills four rooms of an 1862 rock house, with a living room, kitchen and a six-foot cast-iron claw-foot tub, and the Summer Kitchen is a rustic detached room with its own claw-foot tub but no shower. As posted in October 2026, those rooms run $159 and $139 a night plus tax, and both include breakfast served in the inn's Victorian ballroom. A loft suite with a kitchen is rented for stays of 30 days or more. The inn is open year-round, and the creekside grounds also host weddings.

Village shops, the Maeystown General Store and a mill museum run by the local preservation society are generally open weekends 11 to 4, and a coffee roastery opens Friday and weekend mornings. The 2026 calendar includes Maeystown Oktoberfest on October 11, a ladies' shopping day on November 21 and an Old-Fashioned German Christmas on December 6. Illinois Caverns is about 5 minutes away and Fort de Chartres about 20.

Tenderloin Farms Lavender near Edwardsville is about an hour north, so the inn makes a quiet overnight base for a June lavender trip that continues south along the river bluffs.
