About Ferme Butte & Bine Farm
Ferme Butte & Bine is a small family farm on Glen Brook Road outside Williamstown, run by Emeric and Sylviane, their two children and Emeric's mother, Nathalie. They grow vegetables using organic methods, though the farm is not certified, borrowing from regenerative and permaculture ideas: minimal tilling, mulch from on-farm materials, cover crops and insect netting, with chickens scratching and fertilizing the ground.
For visitors, the bakery is the headline. The farm café opens Thursday through Sunday all year and bakes organic sourdough, most of it vegan, plus croissants and European-style pastries. There is no fixed menu; a menu of the day lists two to eight brunch or lunch plates next to the pastry case, with local espresso drinks. Seating is walk-in only, with plenty of tables outdoors, and select items can be preordered online or set up as a weekly bread subscription.
For an overnight, the family rents two rooms in their 1812 farmhouse. The Suite sleeps two adults and a child, has a kitchenette and a screened veranda facing the orchard, and takes up to two house-trained dogs with approval. The Farmstay Room sleeps two adults and two children. Guests share fire pits, bicycles and snowshoes, and get a farm tour when time allows. The farm also runs classes, small weddings and event rentals.
Loulou Lavender is in Williamstown too, a few minutes away, so a summer morning can start with croissants here and carry on to the lavender; check Loulou's social pages for open days.
