About Glengarry Fine Cheese
Glengarry Fine Cheese makes European-style cheeses on the Peters family's ancestral farmland near Lancaster, in South Glengarry. Founder Margaret Peters Morris began making cheese from farm milk in the early 1990s, built a supply business for farmstead and artisan cheesemakers, and opened the cheese plant in 2008. The cheeses are made from milk from a neighboring herd of Brown Swiss cows, in both conventional and organic lines, and aged in European-designed rooms. The company counts more than 30 awards.
The shop sells the cheeses the plant is known for. Lankaaster is a Dutch-style loaf sold as Traditional, semi-firm and mild, or Aged, firm and dense with a butterscotch color. Celtic Blue is a soft, creamy, mild blue, and Celtic Blue Reserve is made richer with extra cream. In the posted 2026 shop prices these run about $11.49 to $12.99 per wedge.
Besides cheese, the shelves carry local honey, maple syrup, jelly, meats and crackers, enough to put together a picnic board on the spot. A separate cheesemaking supply business on the same site serves home and professional cheesemakers. Online cheese orders ship only from September to May.
