About The Glengarry Market
The Glengarry Market is a shop and café on Main Street South in Alexandria that opened in 2019 to gather the best of the surrounding countryside under one roof. Owner Amanda Haley stocks it with goods from more than 50 vendors, all from Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry, Cornwall and the nearby area, so a single stop gives you a good sample of what eastern Ontario farms and makers produce.
On the shelves you will find farm produce, meats, fresh greens and mushrooms, loose-leaf tea, handmade gifts, and honey in several forms, from liquid and creamed to infused and comb. The market spotlights three vendors each month, which is an easy way to meet small producers you might not find otherwise.
The café makes this a natural lunch stop. The menu covers soups, salads, sandwiches such as a smashed chickpea sandwich, a roasted vegetable wrap, charcuterie boards, baked goods (including gluten-friendly treats from their in-house baker) and meals to go. If you shop their online store, orders are picked up curbside at the market; they don't deliver.
Loulou Lavender near Williamstown is about 12 miles south, roughly 20 minutes by county roads, so the market fits well as a lunch and shopping stop before or after a lavender visit. Lavande Braydale in Moose Creek is about 25 minutes to the west if you want to see a second field.
