About Niagara Oast House Brewers

Niagara Oast House Brewers works out of a big red barn on Niagara Stone Road that dates to the late 1800s. Over the years the building has been a fruit basket factory, a fruit packing shed, a growers' co-op, the first branch of a farmers' bank and a long-running tractor and farm supply dealer. A group of Niagara-on-the-Lake natives, a brewmaster, a winemaker and two sommeliers, bought it in early 2011 to start a small-batch brewery built around farmhouse styles.

In the Beer Shed tasting room you can try the standards and seasonals by the glass or as a flight, then take beer home. Barnraiser Country Ale is the everyday pour, and the Farmhouse Ale Collection includes a saison and a bière de garde in 750 ml bottles; there's a barrel program too. The brewery is open every day, so it works as a stop in any season.

Patina Pizza, the kitchen on site, runs year-round. In warm weather a two-story patio built from shipping containers looks over the vineyards, with a bar and a stage for the summer live music series. Groups of 8 to 15 should book a tasting ahead, and the Hayloft upstairs seats up to 80 for private events, which can include a brewery tour.

neōb Lavender is a few minutes along Niagara Stone Road, so the barn makes an easy lunch or flight stop before or after walking the lavender rows.
