About Southbrook Vineyards
Southbrook Vineyards calls itself Canada's first biodynamic winery, and its vineyards carry organic, Demeter biodynamic and Regenerative Organic certification. The story starts at Don Head Farms near Richmond Hill, which the Redelmeier family bought in 1941. Bill Redelmeier grew a roadside stand there into a busy farm market and opened the winery in the farm's century-old barns in 1991. In 2007 the business moved to a 74-acre property in the Four Mile Creek sub-appellation of Niagara-on-the-Lake, and in 2008 it opened a hospitality pavilion designed by Toronto architect Jack Diamond.
Tastings are pre-paid and booked ahead. The fall 2026 menu has two $20 flights of four wines drawn from the Triomphe and Laundry lines, an Estate Biodynamic flight at $35, and a $45 Deep Dive on weekends, led by a senior team member, with a small cheese pairing and a $10 credit toward wine bought that day. Southbrook's wines are vegan and low in sulphites or made without them.
Southbrook is a working farm, and well-behaved dogs on a leash are welcome. Events and seasonal gatherings in the vineyard are posted on their website, and wine club members get their own flights.
