About Parkside Acres

Parkside Acres is a family-run pick-your-own farm on Parkside Drive in Waterdown, at the north edge of Hamilton. The farm carries the Barnard family name and is set up as a place to linger as much as to pick, with blankets and kids welcome. It plants for three seasons: tulips in spring, sunflowers in summer and pumpkins in fall.

When we checked in October 2026, the sunflower field had sold out for the year and the pumpkin patch was open, with pumpkins priced by size. Sunflowers had been sold as cut-your-own stems by the bundle. Tulips come next, listed as arriving in spring with prices still to be announced. The farm opens Friday through Sunday from 10 to 4, and it is cashless, so bring a card or phone.

A farm stall sells fresh coffee, butter tarts and cookies, which makes a pumpkin pick an easy slow-morning outing with children. Well-behaved pets may come on a leash, and owners must clean up after them. Upcoming dates are posted on the farm's event calendar and social pages.

Between the Vines Lavender Estate, west of Dundas, is about 15 minutes southwest, and Kelso Lavender near Milton is roughly 20 to 25 minutes north, so a summer day can pair cut sunflowers with a lavender visit; check each lavender farm's website for visit days.
