About Sam's Orchard

Sam's Orchard is a pick-your-own apple orchard and flower farm on a hilltop in Freelton, in the rural north end of Hamilton. It opens only in fall, and the view from the top of the property is part of the draw, along with rows of apple trees and a sunflower patch you can cut from.

In 2026 the farm is open Saturdays, Sundays and Thanksgiving Monday from September 5 to October 31, 9 am to 5 pm with last entry at 4:30. Apples are $3 a pound and sunflowers $2.50 a stem, and there is a pumpkin patch to pick from as well. With only about 18 open days in the whole season, it pays to plan ahead.

Beyond picking, there is a corn maze, a kids' fun zone, a hay jump, horseshoes and cornhole, plus chickens and piglets to visit. Families can bring their own lunch, since picnics are welcome as long as you pack out your garbage, and pets are allowed too. Tickets can be bought online or at the gate, and children two and under are free.

Kelso Lavender near Milton is about 15 minutes to the northeast, so you can plan a summer lavender visit and a fall apple trip in the same corner of the escarpment.
