About Springridge Farm
Springridge Farm on Bell School Line in Milton has belonged to the Hughes family since 1960, when Leslie and Isobel Jane Hughes moved here from their Mississauga farm. They grew 50 acres of sour cherries for canneries and pitted them in the lower level of the old bank barn. When cherry prices fell below the cost of growing them, Laura Hughes started pick-your-own as a summer project, and the farm grew from there. Farmer John and Laura run it today with their children.
The 19th-century bank barn now holds the Barn Market, stocked with pantry staples and gifts, and the bakery still uses recipes Laura learned from her mother-in-law. Look for apple, strawberry rhubarb, wild blueberry and cherry pies, butter and pecan tarts, sausage rolls and croissants. The Front Porch Servery serves food on site, and in fall there's apple cider and pumpkins.
Kids head to the Fun Farmyard: goats on Goat Mountain, bunnies and chickens, a singing chicken show, tube slides, a spider-web climber, a giant sandbox, a 40-foot windmill, pedal tractors and an escarpment lookout. Wagon rides run on the hour on weekdays and continuously on weekends, and the five-acre corn trail opens on weekends in the October harvest season. In fall 2026, farmyard admission was $10 on weekdays and $19 on weekends and holidays; the market, bakery and gift shop are free to enter.
Kelso Lavender is about 9 km west, roughly a 15-minute drive, so a summer lavender visit pairs easily with pie from the bakery.
