About Pillitteri Estates Winery
Pillitteri Estates is a family winery on Niagara Stone Road, the main route into the old town of Niagara-on-the-Lake. The family arrived in Niagara in 1948 and has farmed there ever since; three generations now work in the business. The winery is best known for its icewines, which make up a large share of the more than 800 awards its wines have collected.
The wine shop is open daily from 11 to 7 for tours and tastings. Tours leave every 45 minutes, and a tasting is a flight of four wines with icewine on the menu. Flights start at $15 and tours with a tasting from $20; walk-ins are welcome, but the winery asks guests to book online ahead. For a longer visit, the Wagyu & Wine experience pairs wines with wagyu for up to six guests over about two hours, at $88 plus tax per person.
BarrelHead, the winery's pizza patio, serves wood-fired pizza, salads, wine, beer and icewine sangria with live music, open daily from noon into the evening. Families or groups traveling together can rent the winery's three-bedroom cottage, which has a fully stocked kitchen, a dining room that seats eight and an upstairs game room.
neōb Lavender is about five minutes away on the same road, so a summer morning among the lavender and lunch on the BarrelHead patio are easy to combine.
