About Red Hill Brewery

Karen and David Golding opened Red Hill Brewery in 2005, and it calls itself the Mornington Peninsula's original craft brewery. The setting is rustic bush land with a hop garden right on site, planted with Hallertauer, Tettnanger, Golding and Willamette. The bines grow more than a foot a day in December and reach about 18 feet, and the whole hop flowers are dried on site and used in the beer.

Hops are picked in early March over a weekend when friends of the brewery gather to help, and guests can dry-hop their own pint with fresh flowers; sign-up is through the newsletter. The beer list is split into a core range, seasonal brews and limited releases, with dark beers such as the Consecrator Doppelbock and a molé imperial stout. Winter brings a festival of dark brews and nitro pours, and Oktoberfest runs on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The bar and kitchen open Thursday to Sunday and on public holidays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Lunch bookings aren't taken, so arrive early on weekends; larger groups can arrange a booking through the groups page, and food and beer are also available to take away. If you want to stay, the Brewer's Cottage on the property is available for overnight guests.

Red Hill Lavender in Main Ridge is about 10 minutes west, so lunch among the hop vines pairs well with a lavender visit in the Southern Hemisphere summer.
