About Rocky Creek Strawberry Farm

Rocky Creek is the Gallace family's strawberry farm in the Main Ridge hinterland of the Mornington Peninsula. Peter Gallace bought the land as an orchard in the early 1960s, and in 1968 Mick Gallace cleared the fruit trees and planted strawberries. The family later sold their farms, then bought back this café and pick-your-own farm during COVID and renamed it Rocky Creek; Matt Gallace runs it today. More than 300,000 strawberry plants grow here, and the large, sweet Albion variety is kept for pickers.

The farm reopens for the 2026–27 season on Friday 30 October 2026 and opens daily through the season, no booking needed. In this Southern Hemisphere summer, strawberries usually run from late October or early November into late April or early May, blueberries from late December to mid-February, and blackberries from late December through January, with a small raspberry crop around January. Everyone who goes into the fields buys a punnet: A$12 for an adult's 500 g strawberry punnet, A$6 for a child's 250 g, or A$30 for a family of two adults and two children. The blueberry and blackberry fields are about a 500 m walk from the car park.

Non-pickers can wait in the café, where scones come with cream and house-made strawberry jam, waffles are topped with marinated strawberries, and the Strawberry Temptation layers fruit, ice cream and cream. The farm shop sells berry jams and chocolate-coated strawberries. The 2026 opening weekend adds face painting and balloon twisting for kids.

Red Hill Lavender is about a kilometer away on Main Creek Road and opens Thursday to Sunday, so a morning of berry picking and an afternoon in the lavender rows fit into one short Main Ridge loop.
