About Red Hill Lavender
Red Hill Lavender is a hand-cultivated lavender farm on Main Creek Road at Main Ridge, in the hills of the Mornington Peninsula. The owners modeled it on the hand-planted fields of Provence, and the rows are still managed the traditional way. It combines the fields with a small café, a bakehouse and a farm gate shop selling botanical products made in small batches on the property.
The farm and café open from spring to early autumn and close from May to August while the lavender is processed. For 2026 the café and fields reopen on September 17, then run Thursday to Sunday. Summer brings harvest days, when the fields are open daily and you can walk the rows and take home freshly cut bunches; color fades in late summer, but there are rows for photos into February. The 2026/27 harvest dates had not been announced when we checked.
The café bakes lavender scones, cupcakes and lavender and blueberry muffins, and serves lavender ice cream, affogato, lavender iced tea and coffee, indoors or out on the lawn with games. Entry to the fields is free on café days. Scented workshops in a tent by the fields let you make your own botanical products and need booking, and picnics can be pre-booked for the season. Dogs are welcome. The farm also hosts weddings and events.
Rocky Creek Strawberry Farm is a few minutes away on the same ridge, a natural pairing in summer when both are in season.
