About Rolling Pin Bakery

Rolling Pin Bakery is in the Three Village Shopping Plaza on Route 25A in East Setauket, across from St. James Church. Owner David Dombroff, a Culinary Institute of America graduate who learned the trade around his father's bagel shop, bought the former Glendale Bakery at 25 and has run it for about 30 years. In December 2025 the local weekly paper named him one of its People of the Year, noting that the day's leftover bread and pastries go to soup kitchens each night.

Cakes are the heart of the place. Sponge layers and fillings are made from scratch, and before the pandemic the shop turned out 45 to 55 wedding cakes on a typical weekend. The case holds carrot cake with cream cheese icing and walnuts, an Irish cream chocolate cake under ganache, a Silk and Satin cake layered with cheesecake and chocolate mousse, a raspberry-filled tri-color cake and a white chocolate mousse cake. Custom cakes come in vanilla, chocolate, marble, red velvet or carrot, with fillings that run from cannoli cream to banana custard and raspberry mousse.

Cupcakes, cookies, pastries and tarts fill out the counter, couples can request a wedding cake tasting through the bakery's website, and a kosher certification letter is posted there too. The shop is open seven days a week.

Hoshyla Farms in Manorville is about 30 minutes southeast by way of the Long Island Expressway, so a box of pastries from here travels well to a summer lavender day there.
