About Stone Creek Inn

Stone Creek Inn is a 160-seat restaurant on Montauk Highway in East Quogue, in a house built in 1910 as a two-story home called the Ambassador Inn. During Prohibition it worked as a speakeasy, with liquor brought by boat from Shinnecock Bay up Weesuck Creek and hidden in a small cottage out back. It became a restaurant in 1938. Chef Christian Mir and Elaine DiGiacomo, who met while working at Tavern on the Green, bought it in 1996 and reopened it that May under its current name, and 2026 marks its 30th year.

Mir trained in classic French kitchens in southwest France before moving to New York, and the cooking here follows the market, built around seasonal ingredients from nearby sources. The restaurant is open year-round, indoors only. In fall 2026 it serves dinner Thursday through Sunday from 5 p.m., with a two-course prix fixe at $45 all evening on Thursdays and Sundays, and it posts special hours for Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve, Valentine's Day, Easter and Mother's Day.

Reservations are required and open four weeks ahead, with a credit card to hold the table and a $25 per person charge for cancellations inside 24 hours. Bar seats are first come, first served. Children have their own $26 meal of organic chicken tenders, mac and cheese and fruit. Valet parking is free, the building is wheelchair accessible with an outdoor elevator, and the dress code is business casual. Parties of more than 12 order from a special menu, and space for big groups is tight in July and August.

Hoshyla Farms in Manorville is about 20 minutes west on Sunrise Highway, so a summer afternoon in its lavender can end with an early dinner here.
