About Texas Corners Brewing Company

Texas Corners Brewing Company fills a 100-year-old white church in Texas Township, southwest of Kalamazoo, that the family renovated into a taproom and restaurant. It is family-owned and run by the same family behind Lawton Ridge Winery, and the menu starts with produce from their third-generation farm, filled in with other local ingredients where they can get them.

All of the beer and cider is made in-house. The tap list mixes familiar styles with small-batch experimental brews, and the hard cider is pressed from apples grown in the family's own orchards; there is also a porter called P-51. A curated wine list includes the family's wines. The drinks are poured in the taproom and restaurant and at a few local spots around town.

The kitchen cooks from scratch, down to hand-cut fries made from locally grown russet potatoes, house dressings and sauces, and baked desserts, and there is a separate kids' menu. Happy hour runs Monday through Thursday from 4 to 6 PM. In warm weather bands play on the patio, and the calendar also lists beer releases and festivals. It's closed Sundays, and weekday service starts in the late afternoon, so plan a weekday visit for dinner.

Shades of Lavender Farm in Mattawan is about 20 minutes west. Spend the afternoon there, where entry is free and the farm is open year-round, then come back toward Kalamazoo for dinner and a pint or a glass of cider.
