About The Fresh Coast Inn at Ludington

The Fresh Coast Inn occupies the 1889 Dr. Frank and Fanny Allen Latimer house on Ludington Avenue. The house is a recognized Michigan Historic Site and won the local historical society's restoration award.

Six room types cover most groups. Two king rooms have fireplaces, a ground-floor king is the one room without stairs, a garden-view room has two queens, and the third-floor Studio Loft has a kitchenette and sleeps seven. Every room has a private bath, air conditioning and WiFi, and parking is free on site. Check-in is self-serve after 3 p.m. with a code texted on arrival day, and check-out is at 11.

Breakfast is served in the dining area or brought to your room, and guests heading out on the morning car ferry across Lake Michigan get an early continental breakfast; the dock is less than a mile away. Sandcastles Children's Museum is five blocks off, the North Breakwater Lighthouse is about a 15-minute walk, and Ludington State Park's shoreline is just north of town. Small pets are allowed in the Standard Room for a $25 fee, and a two-night minimum may apply from May through September.

Cherry Point Farm & Market near Shelby is about 45 minutes south on US-31. Its lavender labyrinth and herb garden are free during market hours (2026: daily 9 to 6 through October 31), an easy day trip from a Ludington stay.
