About Cherry Point Farm & Market
Cherry Point Farm & Market is one of the oldest working farms in Oceana County. The Bull family began farming here in 1949 and opened a fruit market soon after; owner Barbara E. Bull also writes and publishes books. The farm lies about a mile from Lake Michigan, 1.5 miles south of Silver Lake on Scenic Drive (B15), and a Michigan Historical Marker in the parking lot recalls Blackberry Ridge, a settlement founded in 1857.
The draw for lavender lovers is the labyrinth: a spiral path of earth mounds and lavender winding to a central stone circle. Unlike a maze, it is one continuous path, so you cannot get lost. An arbor of 52 posts rises over the center, where the herb garden is laid out in a 12-point geometric pattern of 36 beds holding dozens of herbs. The lavender is usually in full bloom from mid to late July, and something is blooming in the herb garden all summer. Walking it is free during market hours, daily 9 AM to 6 PM through October 31.
The market sells bulk lavender and lavender goods, fresh produce, cherry strudel and turnovers for breakfast, and lunches to eat there or take along. Cherries are not U-pick, to protect the trees. On summer evenings the farm hosts traditional fish boils: whitefish boiled with potatoes and onions, served with coleslaw, garlic toast and cherry pie with ice cream. In 2026 they ran Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 6 PM from mid-June through Labor Day, at $31.95 per adult.
Jazz U-Pick We-Pick on Grant Road, about 10 minutes away, has blueberries and raspberries in summer.
