About Verger Gibouleau

Verger Gibouleau has been an orchard for more than 100 years and is now run by the fourth generation of the family. It sits in Laval's Auteuil district, about a kilometer east of Autoroute 19, and has roughly 10,000 apple trees in about fifteen varieties, which makes it one of the larger pick-your-own orchards this close to Montreal.

Picking runs from mid-August to late October, depending on the weather. The orchard's 2026 calendar starts with Melba from about August 15 to early September, then Lobo from late August to the end of October. McIntosh comes in from early September to early October, and Cortland and Honey Gold from mid-September into the third week of October. Entry to the orchard requires buying a picking bag, which holds about 20 pounds and cost $32 in 2026; up to four people can share one bag, and the orchard says there are no other fees.

The kiosk at the entrance sells a range of orchard products and is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; picking stops an hour before closing. Only cash and debit are accepted, not credit cards. Leashed dogs are welcome in the orchard as long as you clean up after them, and school groups can book visits through the orchard.

La Lavandoise, a young lavender field in Laval's Sainte-Dorothée district, is about 20 minutes away by road. Its pick-your-own lavender is an early-summer activity, so the two make the best pair on separate trips, or on a late-summer day when the Melba apples are in.
