About Verger du Ruisseau
Verger du Ruisseau is a family apple orchard on rang de la Fresnière in Mirabel, incorporated in 1991. Picking runs from late August to mid-October, and the 2026 season opened on August 29. The shop's baked goods and preserves are made from recipes handed down by the owners' grandmothers, Marie-Marthe and Sylvie.
Seven varieties come in one after another. Paulared opens the season in late August and early September, followed by Lobo through September, Honeycrisp in mid to late September, McIntosh from mid-September to mid-October, Spartan and Cortland from late September to mid-October, and Empire in early October. Picking bags come in two sizes, about 20 pounds and about 10 pounds, with separate Honeycrisp bags, and every bag includes a tractor-drawn wagon ride out to the trees and access to the orchard. Picnic tables are set out among the trees.
The shop is worth a stop of its own: apple pie, apple pie with sugar cream, a crumble-topped croust-tarte meant to be eaten warm with ice cream, old-fashioned donuts, and oat and apple galettes. The pantry shelf has homemade ketchup, pickled beets, sweet cucumber pickles, jams made without pectin (strawberry, strawberry-rhubarb, raspberry, blueberry and mixed berry) and a crabapple jelly made from a recipe more than 20 years old. Posted hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the orchard notes that hours can change in bad weather.
La Maison Lavande in Saint-Eustache is about 20 minutes east. Its summer season ends before apples arrive, so plan the lavender in July and come back here between late August and mid-October.
