About Warner Vineyards
Warner Vineyards has made wine in Paw Paw since 1938 and describes itself as the second-oldest winery in Michigan. The grounds sit along the East Branch of the Paw Paw River: you park on one side and cross a covered bridge, then walk through a courtyard under a grapevine trellis to reach the tasting room and event space.
The tasting room offers more than 30 wines, from reds and whites to fruit wines and a brut champagne, and bottles are sold to take home. Next door, the Warner Brew Haus brews small-batch beer and serves food in the historic 1898 Waterworks Station building. From October through April the Brew Haus hosts open mic nights on Fridays and live music on Saturday evenings.
Summer and fall belong to the concert series, which puts on more than 100 live shows a year in the wooden amphitheater and on the riverside patio on the north end of the property. On concert nights tickets are needed after 5 PM, and only the concert menu is served then. Between the winery and the Brew Haus sits a converted train car that can be rented for an overnight stay, and the winery also books igloo dining. Leashed, friendly dogs are welcome if owners clean up after them. Warner also has tasting rooms in Holland, Marshall and South Haven.
Shades of Lavender Farm in Mattawan is about 15 minutes east. Walk the lavender in the morning, then come back to Paw Paw for a riverside glass, with St. Julian Winery just up the street for a second stop.
