About B.R. Cohn Winery
B.R. Cohn Winery, established in 1984, sits off Sonoma Highway in Glen Ellen among vineyards, oak trees and olive groves that are more than a century old. The winery leans into its rock-and-roll roots: its Studio displays original artwork by musicians and songwriters including Grace Slick, John Lennon and Bernie Taupin. It is now part of the Adair family's group of estates, with Glenn Hugo as winemaker.
The tasting room is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the last tasting at 4. A Wine Flight of four wines is $40 and the Reserve Wine Flight, with cheese and charcuterie, is $60; both take about 90 minutes. The Studio Sessions tasting ($100) adds a tour and seated tasting Friday through Monday, and an estate tour ($120) takes up to three guests around the property in an open electric vehicle at noon daily except Wednesday, until it closes for the season on November 1. Wines run from Sonoma Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and Russian River Valley Pinot Noir to Sauvignon Blanc, the Quatre red blend and a Carneros Blanc de Noirs.
If you just want to sit outside, buy a bottle and snacks in the tasting room and take an unreserved table; walk-ins are welcome for this. Wood-fired pizza is served Saturdays from noon to 3 p.m. through October 31, cabanas can be rented on weekdays, and a Thanksgiving flight with bites runs November 26. Napa and Sonoma residents get 10% off Monday through Thursday.
Bees N Blooms in Bennett Valley is about 20 minutes away over Bennett Valley Road. Walk the lavender labyrinth in the morning and head to Glen Ellen for an afternoon flight.
