About Kunde Family Winery

Kunde Family Winery farms a 1,850-acre estate along Highway 12 in Kenwood, in the middle of the Sonoma Valley. The family has worked these vineyards since 1904, and the ground has been planted since 1879. Five generations in, the estate is known for old-vine Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon, and its aging caves are dug into the volcanic hillside.

The easiest visit is the 202 Lounge, a walk-in bar tasting for $25 a person, offered daily until 3:30 p.m. A daily tour at 11 a.m. takes about 90 minutes, includes the caves and costs the same $25 without a booking. The seated Kinneybrook tasting is $45 and comes with a local cheese plate. Through November 9, 2026, the Mountain Top tour heads up to a deck at 1,400 feet for a two-hour vineyard, cave and tasting outing, Thursday through Sunday at noon or 3 p.m., at $100. From November 12 to March 28 it is replaced by a two-hour Cave Tasting of library and reserve wines. Both longer tours need reservations, and there is a lower non-tasting price.

Well-behaved leashed dogs are welcome at the 202 Lounge and Kinneybrook, one per party, but not on the tours. Guests on the tours must be 21 or older, and outside food and drink are not allowed. Groups of 10 or more can book private tastings, and the estate hosts weddings and events.

Bees N Blooms, the organic lavender farm known for its labyrinth, is west of Santa Rosa about 25 minutes away on Highway 12, so the two fit easily into one Sonoma County day.
