About St. Francis Winery & Vineyards
St. Francis Winery & Vineyards sits off Highway 12 at the north end of Sonoma Valley, with vineyard views framed by the Mayacamas Mountains. The winery has more than five decades of winemaking in Sonoma County behind it and is known for Zinfandel and Merlot, along with Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Sangiovese, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and port.
The winery is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and tastings require a reservation with a card on file. The Five Wine Guided Tasting ($45, about 75 minutes) is served on the tasting room terrace for up to eight guests, though weather can move it indoors. Experience fees may be reduced or refunded with a wine purchase on the day.
The main reason many people come is the Wine & Food Pairing: five courses from executive chef Peter Janiak served at communal tables in the estate dining room, Thursday through Monday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. It runs about two hours and costs $150 ($120 for club members). A sample fall menu matched estate Sauvignon Blanc with parsnip bisque and Cabernet Sauvignon with grilled hanger steak. The kitchen will try to work around dietary needs if told when you book. Children and anyone under 21 are not allowed in the dining experiences, and pets are not permitted. The winery also runs vineyard trolley tours, evening pairing nights, trivia nights and private events.
Bees N Blooms in Bennett Valley is about 20 minutes away. Pair a morning in the lavender labyrinth with a 2 p.m. food and wine pairing.
