About Landmark Vineyards
Landmark Vineyards was founded in Windsor in 1974 and moved to its Kenwood estate in 1989. It sits at the corner of Highway 12 and Adobe Canyon Road, at the foot of the Mayacamas Mountains in the Sonoma Valley, and focuses on small-production Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Landmark also runs a second tasting room at the Hop Kiln Estate on Westside Road in the Russian River Valley, where the hop kilns date to 1905.
At Kenwood, tastings are seated and outdoors, Thursday through Monday from 10 to 5, with the last seating at 3:30. Reservations are required and can be made online, by phone or by email, and same-day spots can sometimes be arranged by calling. Saturday afternoons book up first. Guests can play bocce while they taste, and when the weather turns, tastings move under the eaves.
Outside food and alcohol are not allowed, but the tasting room sells local cheeses, charcuterie, cheese platters and gourmet popcorn. Children are welcome with close supervision, since the property has open water. Well-behaved dogs on a leash can join you outdoors but not inside the tasting room. Groups of six or more have a 20% gratuity added.
Bees N Blooms, the organic lavender farm with a walkable labyrinth west of Santa Rosa, is about 25 minutes away via Highway 12, which makes it an easy morning stop before a Kenwood tasting.
