About Beaulieu Vineyard
Beaulieu Vineyard, known as BV, has made wine in Rutherford for more than 125 years. Its flagship is the Georges de Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, named for the founder, and its Rarities collection traces back to a wine first made by the famed winemaker André Tchelistcheff in 1968. Visitors now taste in the newly restored 1885 stone winery, which has been turned into a hospitality center on Highway 29 just north of Rutherford Grill.
BV is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the last reservation at 3:30. The 1885 Tasting ($50, one hour) pours signature wines and finishes with the Private Reserve Cabernet. The Heritage Tasting ($80, 90 minutes) adds light bites inspired by afternoon tea. A Walk with the Maestro ($95) combines a vineyard walk with a tasting primer, the Georges de Latour Table ($150) is a two-hour multi-course pairing, and the Time Traveler Experience ($300) opens library wines. Wine is also poured by the glass.
Reservations are recommended, especially for the longer experiences, and groups larger than six must book; walk-ins may be fit in for select tastings. The FAQ says children are welcome, though the tasting experiences listed are for guests 21 and over. Only certified service animals are allowed, and the winery is ADA accessible. Guest parking is north of the building by the hospitality center entrance. Groups of 15 or more can arrange private tastings.
Bees N Blooms, an organic lavender farm in Bennett Valley, is about 50 minutes west over the Mayacamas. Plan the lavender for a cool morning and a seated tasting at BV in the afternoon.
