About Cooper's Hawk Vineyards

Cooper's Hawk Vineyards is a 70-acre estate on Iler Road outside Harrow, in the Lake Erie North Shore wine region. The winery takes its name from the birds of prey that hunt over the green space it keeps around the vines, and it puts habitat preservation at the center of how it farms. A walking path, the Hawk Trail, lets visitors take in the vineyards and wildlife.

Drop-in tastings are a four-wine flight of 1-ounce pours for $14 plus tax, chosen from the current list, or a chocolate pairing flight with four larger pours and four chocolates for $18. You can sit at the bar, at an indoor table or on the wine terrace. On Saturdays at noon, founder Tom O'Brien leads the Vines to Wine Tour through the production area with tastes from the tanks, for $25 per person; it runs about 45 to 60 minutes, takes up to 10 guests and must be booked by phone.

The Vines Restaurant serves lunch most days and stays open into the evening on Fridays and Saturdays, with patio seating overlooking the vines. Vineyard Hall, with floor-to-ceiling windows, hosts weddings and corporate events, and the winery runs a monthly wine club.

Serenity Lavender Farm on County Road 50 is under 10 minutes away. In late June or July, walk the lavender in the morning and come here for lunch and a flight.
