About Frisky Beaver

Frisky Beaver is a Norfolk County winery with a shop and tasting bar on Radical Road near Port Dover. The wines are playful by name and cover reds, whites, blush, bubbly and icewine, with labels such as Dam Good White, Dam Good Red, Blushing Beaver and Badass Baco Red. Several have won medals, including a 2020 double gold for Badass Baco Red and a 2018 gold for Frisky Red at the All Canadian Wine Championships.

The shop is open every day of the year, with hours that change by season. Summer, June through early September, has the longest days, to 9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. From October to December it's open 10 to 6 Monday to Saturday and 11 to 6 on Sundays, and winter hours are shorter. Drop in for a tasting at the bar and pick up bottles, glassware or shirts.

Cheese and charcuterie are offered from June to September, and winter pairings can be arranged ahead. Groups are welcome with a few rules: limos, bus tours and parties over eight must book a private tasting and pay when booking, groups top out at 50, and the winery can't host groups after 2 p.m. There's also a wine club.

Bonnieheath Estate Lavender and Winery near Waterford is about 20 to 25 minutes north, so lavender and a tasting stop fit into one Norfolk County afternoon before you head down to the Port Dover waterfront.
