About Carluke Orchards
Carluke Orchards sits on Shaver Road south of Ancaster, where Robert and Marion Inksetter moved in 1961 and planted the orchard in 1965. Marion began selling pies from a stand at the end of the lane on the honor system in the 1970s, opened a licensed bake shop in 1984, and the family still runs it today, now in its third generation with granddaughter Michelle baking from her recipes.
Pick-your-own apples usually start in the second week of September and run to mid-October, with 13 varieties in the rows, including McIntosh, Royal Gala, Empire, Ambrosia, Jonagold, Mutsu and Northern Spy. In 2026 bags were $23 for 10 lb and $44 for 20 lb, and pumpkins were $8 each. No booking is needed, and entry to the orchard closes 45 minutes before closing time.
On fall weekends a $12 wristband (free for ages 4 and under) covers the wagon ride, corn maze, petting zoo and Tractor Tire Park; Tuesday to Friday a $4 wristband covers the maze and tire park. The bakery turns out about 20 kinds of pie with whole fruit, plus cookies, muffins, meat pies and lasagna, and the store is open February 1 to December 24.
Between the Vines Lavender Estate west of Dundas is about 7 miles north, roughly 15 minutes, so a summer lavender visit and a pie stop make an easy half day.
