About Grange Fruit Farm

Grange Fruit Farm is a small family fruit farm and market on 13 Mile Road north of Rockford. In fall the draw is U-pick apples: regular and Premier Honeycrisp, Gala, Early Fuji, Jonagold and Zestar!, with Gold Rush, a good keeping apple, coming late in the season.

In 2026 Honeycrisp U-pick was $1.79 a pound, or $1.49 a pound for 20 pounds or more, and the farm expected its last picking day to be November 1, weather permitting. U-pick closes an hour before the market does. The market sells picked fruit and vegetables by the half bushel, such as McIntosh apples, canning tomatoes and green beans, and in fall adds pumpkins, gourds, corn stalks, mums and straw for decorating.

Earlier in the year the farm has offered summer fruit; its website lists blueberries, red and black raspberries, sweet and Montmorency tart cherries and a small sunflower patch, though those posts are older, so check before planning a summer trip around them. Containers come in half bushels, five- and ten-pound blueberry boxes and pints. Payment is cash or card, with a 3 percent fee on cards.

Great Lakes Lavender Farm is also in the Rockford area, about 15 minutes away. It grows lavender in greenhouses and isn't open for farm visits, but its lavender is sold through its website.
