About Klein Cider Mill & Market
Klein Cider Mill & Market is a family-owned and operated farm in Sparta, in the apple country north of Grand Rapids. Its cider has a good track record: Klein took first place at the 22nd annual Michigan Apple Cider Contest, judged in Grand Rapids in December 2018 against 26 other cider makers.
The market opens in June and runs through November. In fall you can pick your own apples and pumpkins, and the shelves carry raw honey, maple syrup, vegetables and gladiolus flowers. The cider mill itself opened for the 2025 season on September 2 and kept daily hours, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., through Thanksgiving.
Sparta is about 20 minutes from downtown Grand Rapids, and Klein fits easily into a fall drive through the orchards in this corner of Kent County.
Great Lakes Lavender Farm is about 25 minutes east near Rockford. It is not open for farm visits, but you can pick up online orders there on Wednesdays and Fridays and swing by Klein for cider on the same trip.
