About Maize Valley
Maize Valley is a 750-acre family farm in Hartville, run by the same family since the 1960s, that now combines a winery, a craft brewery, a café and a market. It calls its brewery Stark County's first, with 16 beers on tap, and the winery pours more than 25 wines from dry to sweet. The farm's own vineyard grows cold-hardy hybrids such as La Crescent, Vignoles, Traminette, Frontenac and Frontenac Gris, along with Concord.
The winery and brewery are open year-round. In fall the farm adds its harvest grounds: for 2026 they opened September 19, ran on September weekends, and in October are open Thursday through Monday from noon to 7 p.m. Admission ($15 for ages 3 and up, $10 for seniors and free under 2 in 2026) covers an 8-acre corn maze, a wagon ride, an animal train for small children, duck races, a goat area and pumpkin cannon demonstrations. Pumpkins and gem mining cost extra.
The Tasting Room Café serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the market sells baked goods, deli meats and cheeses, sauces and gifts Monday through Saturday all year. Saturday nights often bring live music, and October 2026 adds Sunset Sip evenings in the corn maze on October 17 and 24. One rule to know before a weekend trip: the farm has no Sunday wine license, so wine is not poured or sold on Sundays.
Lavender Trails in Orrville is about 40 minutes west, so a summer day can start with its u-pick lavender and finish with dinner at Maize Valley.
