✏️ Report outdated info

Prince Edward County is an island-like peninsula in Lake Ontario, with the Glenora ferry crossing to its northeast corner. Its back roads link wineries, cideries and farm markets with long sand beaches, and its villages of Picton, Wellington and Bloomfield each have a small museum or market. Hillier, on the west side, packs several wineries and a lavender farm along a single road, Closson Road.

Prince Edward County Lavender, on Closson Road, opens its fields from mid-June to the end of July and holds a two-weekend Lavender Festival in early July; it also has a knot garden and three bed-and-breakfast rooms. Violet Hill Lavender near Picton grows French and English lavender organically on 19 acres and sells its products online after its summer season. Plan for late June or July for lavender and swimming, or September and October for apple picking and quieter beaches.
