About The Grange of Prince Edward

The Grange of Prince Edward is one of the larger vineyard holdings in Prince Edward County, on Closson Road in Hillier. Planting began in 2001, viticulturist Mike Peddlesden led the original planting in 2002 and returned to the estate in 2022, and the namesake vineyard went in in 2003. The estate focuses mainly on Burgundian grape varieties, and a separate Farmer's Series uses fruit from other Ontario growers.

You can taste two ways. Self-guided flights of four wines cost $12 to $18, with tasting notes by QR code; reservations are not needed for groups under eight but are strongly suggested. A guided four-wine tasting with a steward costs $30 and must be booked. One tasting fee is rebated for every $50 of bottles you buy, and wine is also poured by the 5-ounce glass.

In summer, the outdoor Vineyard Kitchen serves a casual menu at picnic tables Wednesday to Sunday until 5 pm, and the Grange Bistro serves dinner in the Great Hall; in winter, meals move beside the Great Hall's fireplace. Build-your-own charcuterie is available any time. Leashed dogs are welcome outdoors only. Fall 2026 brings Countylicious menus on October 21 and 28 and November 4 and 11, and the Closson Crawl on November 14.

Prince Edward County Lavender is a few minutes away in Hillier, so a July lavender walk pairs well with lunch at the Vineyard Kitchen.
