About Hidden Goldmine Bakery

Hidden Goldmine Bakery is a small scratch bakery and café on Durham Street South in Madoc, a village in Hastings County. Everything is baked in-house without preservatives, and the house specialty is the Golden Fudge Nugget. The cases also hold butter tarts (including raisin), pecan and mincemeat tarts, fresh fruit pies, cinnamon buns, lemon blueberry scones, buttermilk biscuits, carrot cake with cream cheese icing, date squares, and cookies such as gingered molasses and chocolate chip, plus fresh loaves of bread.

The café side serves a homestyle lunch that changes daily, usually built around farm-fresh frittatas, grilled paninis, house soup and salad. From May through summer, the Miners Malt Shoppe sells ice cream from a patio window at the bakery.

The bakery is open year-round apart from a winter break; the most recent break ran from December 25 to January 20, reopening January 21, 2026. Before Christmas it adds extra days and a holiday baking menu, including traditional fruitcake. You can preorder baked goods on their website and pick them up in the shop, and gift certificates are sold online.

Woodland North Lavender Farm is just north of Madoc, about a 10-minute drive, so in July you can pick up butter tarts and lunch here on the way to or from the lavender fields.
