About Loch Mór Cider Co.

Loch Mór Cider Co. is the work of Gary, who grew up in Ireland, and Sara, from Manitoba, who met in London and missed the tannic, dry ciders of the UK. They bought land in Prince Edward County in 2016, planted the first five acres in spring 2017 and kept planting every spring for three years, setting out about 3,300 trees by hand. The orchard now covers more than 10 acres of 28 cider apple varieties, mostly European ones such as Brown Snout, a bittersweet apple, plus some North American types like Harrison.

The ciders are dry, low in sugar and built on tannin and acidity, and have collected dozens of medals. Tasting flights come with local artisan chocolates; past pours have included a fruity cherry cider, a barrel-aged Kingston Black and a three-year-old Pommeau.

The covered patio looks over the orchard on a working farm, with wild apples in the hedgerows and monarch butterflies. Walk-ins are welcome, and patio tables can be reserved online. Children are welcome with supervision, and there is a giant Connect Four game; leashed dogs are allowed. The orchard also hosts weddings and private events, especially during blossom in mid-May and harvest in September and October.

Prince Edward County Lavender is a few minutes away in Hillier. In July, tour the lavender and then come for a cider flight on the patio.
