About Blue Barn Berry Farm

Blue Barn Berry Farm sits in the Kosciusko County countryside about six miles from Syracuse and combines a you-pick berry patch, a country market and a busy event barn. Blueberries are the main crop, with blackberries following later in summer, and the farm keeps its own bees for honey.

Blueberry season typically runs from late June into early August, with picking in the area usually starting the first week of July. Blackberries come on from late July into early September. The farm posts picking updates on its social pages, and you can also pre-order blueberries through its website if you would rather pick them up ready to go. Look for plump berries with a light gray-blue color; any red tint means they need more time, and a ripe blackberry comes free with a gentle tug.

The Country Market, open June through October and closed November through May, sells seasonal vegetables and fruit, honey from the farm's bees, jams and jellies, smoothies, local canned goods, birdhouses and gifts. The farm also offers tours and field trips, CSA produce bags, and a pavilion with retractable windows that holds up to 220 people for weddings, graduations and parties.

Bloomfield Schoolhouse Lavender Farm & Apothecary's shop in downtown LaGrange is about 45 minutes northeast, so a morning of picking here can end with lavender goods in the afternoon.
