About Frugthaven Farm

Frugthaven Farm sits off M-57 west of Greenville on part of a generations-old apple orchard that Mike and April Petersen bought at an online auction in March 2019. The name is the family's version of the Danish word for fruit garden. The property keeps its historic barns and apple trees, and the family has built it out with a 14,000-square-foot market space.

The main reason to visit now is Applewood Kitchen + Bar, a full-service New American restaurant with a full bar and 20 hard ciders on tap, picked to go with the food. In warmer months its large patios look out over the orchard. The restaurant is open Tuesday through Thursday from 11:30 to 9 and Friday and Saturday until 10, and is closed Sunday and Monday. It takes call-ahead seating and takeout orders rather than standard reservations.

Frugthaven is also a wedding and event venue, with spaces in and around the old barns, and it pours its own cider under the Sailor + Sipper name. Its coffee bar has been closed, but the farm says it is coming back in a new form. The property ran as a fall fun farm before the Petersens bought it; check their website calendar and social pages for seasonal events.

Great Lakes Lavender Farm is about 15 minutes away; it grows lavender in greenhouses year-round but isn't open for farm visits.
