About Peat's Cider Social
Peat's Cider Social is the taproom for Peat's Original Cider, a family-owned cider maker based on the Peat family farm in Paw Paw. Co-founders Dan and Leah Peat and partners Josh and Tiffany Cosner moved into the former Lakeshore Lanes bowling alley on Red Arrow Highway in Stevensville, kept the lanes and arcade games, and renovated the taproom and party room using the building's vintage blueprints and old advertising as a guide.
The ciders are made in Michigan with local ingredients, and the taps rotate. The flagship, The Huntsman, is crisp and semi-dry, and head of production Eddie Hengesh, who comes from brewing, also makes spirits and other products. For non-drinkers there is pop, apple juice, hop water and sparkling cider.
Bowling is the other draw. Open bowling is first come, first served and rented by the hour for up to six people: $25 on Mondays and Wednesdays, $30 most other times and $35 on Friday nights, Saturdays and holidays, with shoes included (bring socks). The space was designed with families in mind, with a train table, a changing table and a retro arcade room, and a kids' bowling camp for ages 6 to 12 runs in summer. Leagues and private parties are booked by email.
Hickory Creek Lavender Farm is just a few minutes away in Stevensville. During its summer bloom you can cut lavender there and then bowl a few frames here.
